Travel insurance within the US for American citizen?

Asked by sophied (106points) August 26th, 2009

I’m an American citizen living in France, where I’m covered by French social security. I’ll be going to the States (New York and Los Angeles) for 3 weeks in September, and would like to have some travel health insurance in case of emergency. What insurance options do I have?

We always use TravelGuard when traveling out of the US, as that is/was recommended by the US State department. It’s based on your country of residence, not your citizenship.

travelguard said that as i’m a US citizen they can’t cover me. they consider USA my home country even though i don’t live there. that doesn’t make sense to me, as i don’t live in the states, but since i’m a US citizen they won’t cover a trip to the US.

any other ideas?

Okay, try this site. It sounds like you need expatriate services.
